For almost a year our oldest Bee Boy saved up for an Apple iTouch. He finally met Santa in the middle and found it under the tree this Christmas. He has enjoyed using his own money to purchase games and educational applications online in the Apple App Store.
He really likes the games that are free downloads. So when I heard about a new free trial audio storybook subscription service in the Apple App Store, Big Bee was all over it.
Just this month Tales2Go launched their app that gives parents instant access to nearly a thousand great kids' stories from audio publishers that streams on-demand, to your iPhone or iPod Touch.
My 8 year old easily....
downloaded the Tales2Go free-30-day subscription and is really enjoying the stories told by talented and engaging story tellers. Big Bee's favorite story is Bottlecaps.
I first met Tracey Weil, Co-Founder and Chief Mom of Tales2Go on Twitter and have enjoyed getting to know more about her and her product. She is a Mommy of three, like me, and I can appreciate her search for something educational to entertain.
Tracey says, “As a parent of three young children, I’m constantly looking for ways to entertain my kids and keep their minds working and learning, especially on the go. We’re always listening to stories in the car, on the way to school, driving around town, or on long road trips. I think of Tales2Go as ‘mommy’s little helper.’ Tales2Go is story time, anytime without any advance planning, downloading or syncing.”
What Mommy Message likes about Tales2Go: it provides a nice alternative to “screen-based” media. Audio books seem to help boost Big Bee's vocabulary and peak his interest in reading. Tales2Go will definitely go with us on our next long car trip or just around town. We are finding it is a great way to entertain an 8-year-old brain.

That's a funny video! Looks like a great product... I'll have to check it out on my husband's iPhone.
My children (8 and 4) LOVE Tales2Go! The 4-year old can launch the app, find his favorite story then put my iPhone in our stereo dock to play it. We play stories in carpool, at breakfast and when the boys are taking a bath at night. It's also great for mellow time after school when they're having a snack. Their friends love it, too. I played a story for my little one while waiting for the 8-year olds lax class to finish, and two other children wandered over and were transfixed. If you have an iPhone or iTouch, you HAVE to get this app!!!!!
It looks like a really great product. Will go have a look, as I'm always the one ending up to buy all these weird and wonderful things for the family kids.

I'm still amazed that my 4-year-old son can navigate my phone. He can pull up YouTube and watch videos on it.
