One highlight of our trip over the river and through the woods, besides seeing the awesome Grandparents, was a trip to the Sweetwater Sock Shop. Oh no, you read it right, the Sweetwater Sock Shop. A must stop for all your stocking needs, that is if you happen to be traveling through Sweetwater, TN.
The boys are always so excited...
to go into this little outlet shop supplied from a mill in nearby Niota. All the socks are made right here in the USA, a fact the sales lady is proud to tell me. I am happy the mill is still in business.
Upon entering the shop the look on the boys faces says it is Christmas all over again. They are so thrilled, you might think we were heading to Disney World. This serious excitement puzzles me, but new socks are a big deal, right?
They love seeing the seemingly endless supply of socks.
I'm not sure why, but they think it pure joy to browse through the selection.
The boys each picked out two pairs, from wool slider socks to matching footballs. So many choices, so little time.
Our group giddy from sock purchases, decided to try them on immediately. The boys stripped off their old socks in the car and put on what they call their new "Sweetwater socks." The older boys smiled down at their new cozy stockings. It was almost like having a trio of Tiny Tims in the car. I really do buy them socks more than once a year, but for some reason these socks are different.
Maybe to them it is a fresh start, a new foot forward with new socks for 2010. What could be sweeter than socks from Sweetwater, I ask you? Maybe those smiles and the laughter when they use them to slide on our hardwood floors. Fa, la, la, la, la... Happy New Year everybody!
