The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a caution about infant slings after investigating deaths involving the carriers.
Apparently infants under the age of 4 months are the most affected age group, especially preemies.
Out Little Bee lived in his sling...
but I always made sure his face was turned up and visible and not to the side turned toward my body, which is also the recommendation of the CPSC. They found tiny infants with little control of their neck muscles could suffocate in the fabric.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission also recommends to use caution after feeding an infant in the sling. For more information head to the CPSC site.
